How can I meditate?
Start by sitting comfortably on a cushion or lie down. Begin to breathe deeply, and focus on every breath you take. Breathe in and out so that both your stomach and your chest rise in and out. Don’t expect your thoughts to immediately go away; just observe the thoughts and allow them to come and go as they will. Take note of what emotions come up with certain thoughts and notice your reactions to them. If you focus on breathing, your thoughts will stop.

It should be a positive, encouraging and helpful word that you want to manifest in your life. Examples can include peace, tranquility, surrender, baby or love.

You can start to meditate for a couple of minutes each day and increase as you go on. It is not so much how long, as it is the amount of awareness you give to your meditation. Whether you take ten minutes in the morning before work or indulge in a half hour before bed, setting aside time to quiet the mind is a must in this day and age of constant connectivity and chaos.
